Galvanized champagne cork wire is a galvanized low carbon steel wire for manufacturing holders used for tightening capsules on champagne bottles, and similar containers. Champagne Cork Wire is supplied in a ringed cage style painted in silver, copper, gold or black color to suit with the colors of the corks or capsules.

Why Champagne Needs a Steel Wire Cage for Corks?

Some people may wonder why a steel wire cage should be put outside the bottle mouth with a wooden cork. In fact, the cork was originally fixed with hemp rope, but it is easy to loosen after a long time, and the hemp rope is likely to be eaten by rats. The champagne contains a large amount of carbon dioxide, which will generate great pressure on the mouth of the bottle. The wooden plug / corks cannot withstand, so the steel wire cage is used over the cork of the champagne bottle to fix the wooden corks and to prevent the cork from popping out under the pressure of the contents.

Hence, the champagne lid is composed of a metal lid, a wooden stopper and a steel wire cage, which is different from other wine bottle lids.
